The Florida Chapter headed to a second round at the University of Florida's Lake Wauburg Ropes Course. It started with activities aimed to get to know each other and warm up. We followed it with a game of Alaskan football where we passed the Frisbee above and below each person then the last person threw a Frisbee and to score points run around our team. We then broke up into 2 separate groups completing a low alpine course where everyone had to work as a team to get everyone across a two foot high log-course with various obstacles and team problem solving activities as well as multiple other team building activities working on communication and trust...

The Florida Chapter's spring pledge class put together a clothing drive for the St. Francis House in Gainesville. The St. Francis House homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Gainesville, Florida provides emergency food, temporary shelter, and related support services in a safe, secure environment for people in Alachua County who, for whatever reason, find themselves homeless and hungry. St. Francis House provides these services in a supportive environment where people can begin to manage their problems effectively and re-establish themselves as productive members of the community...

Members of Alpha Zeta Eta at California State University, Chico started off the Fall 2011 semester with a "Welcome Back" BBQ.  Members and advisors enjoyed hot dogs and cheeseburgers fresh off the grill, and the pups enjoyed getting to run around at Bidwell Park (one of the largest municipal parks in the country, and a gem of Northern California).  Activities including volleyball and frisbee were among some of the evening's highlight.  Overall it was a fun start to the year in the Eta chapter.

Each year, about 20 members of the Townshend Chapter of AZ (AZP) spend six weeks studying abroad in Brazil at the Universidad de Sao Paulo-ESALQ. This program takes a great deal of commitment from our in country hosts, Ana Victoria, Andre, and Shirota, as well as our advisor, Jill Pfister. Months of planning and problem solving goes into making these short six weeks of travel possible...

The week preceding Christmas, Cook Chapter learned of a local Homeless Shelter run by churches in the area. Each week, the shelter moves to a different church and volunteers sign the men in and stay up each night from 7pm to 7am in case of emergencies. Alpha Zeta was contacted by a local church for help and responded in force...

On February 24th, 15 members of the Cook Chapter ventured to Laser Park to play some games of Laser Tag. The event, organized by the chapter's Brotherhood Committee, was a great way for members to relax and have fun. The Alpha Zeta team played 3 games of laser tag. The event was so much fun that members are looking to have another laser tag night before the semester ends.

Barrett Keene is a former agriscience teacher from Florida who is embarking on a crazy adventure. He is taking the last few months of his PHD at Cornell University to walk literally across the United States of America. Why is he taking on such a crazy adventure? Well at the Florida Chapters meeting he shared those exact thoughts. Barrett is supporting a cause that not many of us think about on a daily basis or much at all unless you see commercials or know of someone who came from the situation. I am talking about orphaned and abandoned kids. He is promoting the Global Orphan Project as he walks talking to student and people just like our members to help be proactive ad sustainable about getting the children in the project schooling and care...

The Florida Chapter had its second to last intramural sand volleyball game on Sunday. The members who showed up to play that night and were met by a team with the same record as we did. Both teams warmed up and our team continued to show great improvements upon each successive time we play together and are definitely looking forward to the last game of the season. As for the game itself it was a rainy and cold night so the teams decided to call it a draw and go into their last game as 1-1-1. The team is looking forward to their next opponent Sketchville USA and hope it will be another good game ending with a win!

Project makeover is a huge service project put on by students out of the University of Florida and founded by a UF student in 2008. The project was held at Chester Shell Elementary this year. The organization raised over $9,000 and used over 1,055 volunteers from UF students to community volunteers helping prune bushes, paint interactive murals, and overall beautify the school over a weekend...

With all the smores fixings bought, the Florida Chapter was off to another successful woodser. Every semester we take a road trip to a local campsite in the middle of what seems to be nowhere for our Woodser. We reserved a campground at Kate's Fish Camp where the ranger came out and helped set up our bonfire to make delicious smores! Members gathered around the fire to share stories about their semester and to meet the newest pledges...
