Barrett Keene is a former agriscience teacher from Florida who is embarking on a crazy adventure. He is taking the last few months of his PHD at Cornell University to walk literally across the United States of America. Why is he taking on such a crazy adventure? Well at the Florida Chapters meeting he shared those exact thoughts. Barrett is supporting a cause that not many of us think about on a daily basis or much at all unless you see commercials or know of someone who came from the situation. I am talking about orphaned and abandoned kids. He is promoting the Global Orphan Project as he walks talking to student and people just like our members to help be proactive ad sustainable about getting the children in the project schooling and care. Through the project money that is collected goes to create sewing factories to produce school uniforms that the children need in order to attend school. Something as small as $20 creates a job, school uniform, and pay for the worker helping combat some of the main issues in abandonment cases. All of our members thoroughly enjoyed listening to him speak to us and I feel like he challenged us to find what we are passionate about and to make a change in ourselves. I know he made a change in the lives of many and he will continue to with the power of words. If anyone would like Barrett to come speak or even to just help support him on his way you can follow his progress at gowalkamerica.org, join the 350,000 challenge (http://www.legacychamp.com/gwa) with your friends and chapter or follow him on Facebook or twitter.
