On February 27th and 28th, the AZ Green Mountain Chapter and UVM Horticulture Club helped set up for the Annual Vermont Flower Show. We "planted" flowers (put still potted plants in mulch, concealing the pots) for the indoor flower display. This year's theme was "The Road Not Taken" based on the Robert Frost poem and how it coincides with Vermont's beautiful natural landscape. Thanks to the hard work of gardeners from Green Works (the VT Nursery and Landscape Association), our chapter learned techniques in flower placement and together we created a beautiful display. About 3-4 Alpha Zeta members were in attendance along side 4-5 Horticulture Club members and Flower Show staff...

New Member Project: A tradition that has continued for many years in the Cook Chapter was quite a success this semester. The new members and their bigs, in addition to any other brothers who chose to participate, came out to the beloved Rutgers Gardens and helped put mulch down around the daffodil beds that will be blooming soon. Also, considering the damage of Hurricane Sandy, Helyar Woods, a staple of the Gardens, were significantly damaged. Many trees had fallen down and the timber could now be used to make mulch.

On February 26^th, seventeen brothers and one alumnus attended our fundraiser at Coldstone Creamery in Cary, NC.  Four brothers mixed and served delicious ice cream for two hours, while the rest of the brotherhood and their friends enjoyed the ice cream creations. All of us enjoyed socializing as a brotherhood even though the weather was cold and rainy.  We only raised $30, so we hope to do another fundraiser later in the semester.

On the evening of February 26^th, brothers of the Wilson Chapter came together for the second official meeting of the semester. Glen Rippke, from Empower Tanzania, was our guest speaker. He spoke to the chapter about the organization’s mission to improve education, health, and world development...

Alpha Zetans welcomed the winter weather with a spontaneous sledding trip this February down some of Cornell’s greatest sledding hills. Just one week into the pledge process, this was a great opportunity for new and old members to get to know each other.

More than 100 students from 16 states and Canada learned about cooperatives from experts across the country Feb. 15 to 17.  Students participated in the National Farmers Union (NFU) College Conference on Cooperatives. Two students from the Cornell chapter, Gianni Parente '14 and Nicole Huynh '13 attended the conference...

The Cal Epsilon chapter finished out the new year in style with the Winter Banquet! Members got a chance to dress up and socialize over some delicious food at the Smittcamp Alumni house at Fresno State. Professor Don Vasconcellos gave a very inspiring speech about the importance of the perserverance in the agricultural industry. New members were recognized, as well as those going to NALC. A silent auction finished off the festivities, and many members walked away with Fresno State paraphernalia and fresh-baked goodies. The evening concluded with a photo-op by the wonderful Christmas tree! We can't wait for next year!

On October 23, 2012, the Cal Epsilon chapter hosted a resume workshop. Members got the opportunity to have their resumes edited by the renowned poultry consultant and Fresno State teacher, Mrs. Michelle Ganci. Mrs. Ganci helped inprove the resumes of all the members who attended, and gave valuable insight into the agriculture industry. Refreshments were provided, and everyone had a wonderful, and delicious, time!

Remember, remember, the fifth of November, to come eat your favorite food and support Alpha Zeta, of course! That was Cal Epsilon's call this November when it hosted its first Hot Dog on a Stick Fundraiser. A percentage of all proceeds earned went to the chapter to support member activities in the coming semester. Everyone had fun, and got to relive their childhood, it was a win-win!

A few weeks ago, members from the Alpha Zeta Cal Epsilon Chapter spent an overcast Saturday morning picking oranges at California State University, Fresno's current president's house.

With hundreds of oranges to pick, AZ members partnered up with members from Alpha Gamma Rho, Plant Science students and 4-H. Together, we gleaned the orange trees and socialized over coffee and donuts.
