Haley Baumgardner, of Carrier, has been named 2011-12 Paul and Mary Hummer Outstanding Graduating Senior in Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR).
Haley, the daughter of Troy and Sheri Baumgardner, also was named a 2012 Dean Lecrone Award recipient.
Baumgardner was recognized during banquet ceremonies in which CASNR presented $293,450 in scholarships and awards, part of more than $1 million presented to OSU students this spring by CASNR and its academic departments for the 2012-2013 school year.
"Through CASNR — which has served as my home away from home for the past four years — I have obtained a first-rate education, real-world work experiences, caring mentors and some of the best friends I could ever want; for that, I will be forever grateful,” she said.
Baumgardner, an OSU agribusiness and marketing major, was named an OSU Senior of Significance last fall, serves as the 2011-12 CASNR Student Council president and is a member of Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi honor society and Alpha Zeta honor society.
Other college activities have included being a CASNR Ambassador, CASNR Student Academic Mentor and a member of the OSU Student Alumni Board, Aggie-X Club, Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlewomen’s organization and Collegiate FFA.
Baumgardner was honored as the Women for OSU Student Philanthropist of the Year in 2011, an award for which she also placed as a finalist the previous year.
