During the week for September 22nd-28th, the North Carolina Chapter of Alpha Zeta helped raise money for Habitat for Humanity by participating in Shack-A-Thon, a tradition at NC State. We paired up with Sigma Alpha and FarmHouse, other Agriculture Sororities and Fraternities on NC State’s campus, and built the “Agri-shack” for the event. Throughout the week, it is required that at least one or two people from either organization remain in the shack 24/7. The goal of this is to give students a small taste of what it feels like to feel homeless, a reality that many people face daily. During this time, we sold biodegradable flowerpots, some old Ag Awareness Week shirts, the right to name a newborn calf. After all this hard work, we raised a total of $105 total for Habitat for Humanity! A big thank you to the Sisters of Sigma Alpha, Brothers of Alpha Zeta, and Brothers of Farmhouse for all their hard work!
