"Alpha Zeta is the professional agricultural and natural resources organization dedicated to the highest levels of scholarship, leadership, integrity and SERVICE.” The Alpha Zeta Canned Food Drive was a major success this year, thanks to Michael Paulsmeyer and the service committee. During College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Week, the Wilson Chapter held a competition amongst the clubs. Collection boxes were placed in each of the clubs' main offices for non-perishable food items, and monetary donations were accepted. Several CALS clubs participated and we were able to raise $885 and donate 140 cans to the Mid‐Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA), a food pantry in Ames that families can access once every two months. Block and Bridle received 3rd place with a donation of $200, Agronomy Club received 2nd place with a donation of $300 and, finally, Ag Business received 1st place with an impressive donation of $385! The Ag Business Club will be named the AZ Canned Food Drive's Outstanding Club and will get to display a traveling trophy for a year!
