On September 24th
2016, members of the Cornell Chapter of Alpha Zeta hosted a homecoming
breakfast for current actives and alumni.
Alumni were welcomed back to the house for a weekend with the actives
for the annual meeting, breakfast and then campus festivities including the
homecoming football game against Yale. At the annual meeting members of the Corporation Board (Rebecca Tallmadge '98 and Jeffrey Perry '89) updated the rest of the alumni on the activity of the Corporation Board including the minutes of last year's meeting, treasurer's report, the previous and upcoming alumni picnics, and house improvement projects. Elizabeth Martens '14 gave the Facility Manager's report and Lauren Fessler '17 gave the Chancellor's report. Cathleen Sheils '89 and Wendy Weichert '87 of CALS Charitable Trust (a trust which is funded by Alpha Zeta Cornell alumni to provide grants for academic research and support the physical house as needed) reported about the current state of the trust and also relayed information about winners of the past round of Academic Enrichment Awards. Lauren Fessler '17 was one such recipient and presented about the research she did over the summer on cherry tomatoes grown in high tunnels. Additionally, Chris Castellano '10 gave an update on High Council.
