On September 28th, the brothers and alumni of Cook Chapter got together for the traditional installment of the new pledges. Our Censor and Sargent had the pledges meet with them beforehand, making sure everyone was ready for the event and knew the basics about our chapter. The pledges were then driven to Helyar House where the ceremony began. Throughout the night, the pledges met with the different classes of Alpha Zeta, including the Alumni. A few pledges at a time were removed from the room and brought to talk to our adviser, George Clark, and our E Board before getting their Bigs for the semester. The new Littles were then introduced to their families and given pizza and snacks.

Big-Little pairs are very important in our chapter. Your big is your connection to the rest of the brotherhood, and they help you with everything you could possibly need that semester. Our Sargent and Censor work very hard every semester to make big-little pairs that will get along and stay friends even in the years after graduation. This semester, 21 new pledges were paired with brothers. Our family ties are one of the reasons our alumni keep coming back and staying connected with our chapter.

At the end of the night, all the new Big-Little pairs stood in a circle and recieved their pledge pins, confirming their relationship to our chapter. Alumni gave words of wisdom to the new Upsilon class and family pictures were taken to remember the occasion. Our fraternity looks forward to this event every semester.
