Two cousins, Charlotte Thompson and Alpha Zeta member Hannah Thompson, (Townshend, ’09) were recently recognized by the Frederick News Post for their interest in pursuing a career in agriculture.
Charlotte, who will graduate in December, has been interning
for a year with the Office of the Chief Economist, World Agriculture Outlook
Board at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She plans on earning a graduate
degree in agriculture economics and wants to work for the federal government in
the agriculture field.
Hannah graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in
agricultural communications with a minor in ag economics and Spanish from Ohio
State University and plans to return to OSU to complete a graduate degree in
agriculture.
This summer, Hannah is completing an internship with Charleston/Orwig, which is advertising agency that focuses on agriculture.
Hannah doesn’t necessarily want to work on a farm, but she
wants to help farmers and hopes to work in the legislative or government
relations field.
"This may take me to
law school or to Washington, D.C., to work as a lobbyist or policy adviser.”
Hannah says. "During graduate school I hope to explore my options and decide in
which path I can be most beneficial to the agricultural industry."
