For our chapter’s "New Member Welcome Dinner,” all current members were asked to bring some sort of food for a potluck style dinner to welcome class 12 of Alpha Zeta Partners to our organization. It was an informal gathering during our regular business meeting, and all incoming members were invited to attend this dinner to talk with current members and observe how our meetings are run. Everyone helped themselves to snacks, drinks, or other food while socializing for about 20-30 minutes before breaking into committee meetings. Again, we encouraged new members to sit in on a committee that interested them so that they could get a feel for how the committees functioned. After the committee meetings concluded, we continued on to the general meeting as normal. After the meeting came to a close, we did drawings to determine which new members would be in the "families” we have set up as a form of mentorship and guidance through their time at Alpha Zeta. The family assignments were randomly drawn out of a hat and all current members were encouraged to bring an item of some significance that could be passed to each new generation of members over time.
