Every year many brothers of the North Carolina chapter of Alpha Zeta participate in Operation Christmas Child, which is organized by the international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse. This service project requires each participating individual to fill a shoebox with age and gender appropriate goodies for the age group he/she selected. You begin with an average sized cardboard or plastic shoebox. Then you must decide whether it will be for a boy or a girl and which age group you’re packing it for, whether it’s ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. After making these important decisions you then fill the box with gifts, such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, stuffed animal, toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. The ultimate goal is to fill the box so each child has something to open on Christmas day. With the help of many brothers, our chapter was able to donate around fifteen boxes this year for this amazing cause.
