The Florida Chapter had the amazing opportunity to initiate 5 new members into our chapter. The night was a rainy and chilly night but that would not stop our excitement or gratitude to the members, staff, and initiates that came out. The ceremony was a traditional set up allowing the initiates an inside into what we were founded on and what we strive towards as an organization. After the ceremony we joined in congratulating the newest members of our chapter with dinner where they sat with their sponsors, our advisors, and honored guest Dr. Robert McCleery. During the dinner everyone socialized about various topics at the different tables in the room then finally coming back together for speeches by the pledge master, Saajan Panikar and chancellors of both the chapter, Charles Doyle, and the pledge class, Paige Clark. The keynote speaker of the night Dr. McCleery talked to the attendees about aspects in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation as well as the research he has done, study abroad program he runs, and a little about himself before he found his home at UF. The night ended with a slideshow presentation of what the new initiates did over their semester of pledging and everyone parting ways. All in all the night went smoothly and everyone enjoyed themselves. We are all extremely proud and happy to find these 5 members in our family.
