Dr. Bill Stringer

William “Bill” Cecil Stringer, 84, of Rocheport, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. He was born September 18, 1932 in Cairo, Georgia, the son of the late Mack and Magdalene (Gandy) Stringer. On December 17, 1966, he was united in marriage in Houston, Missouri to Lola James Stringer, who survives at the home. 

Bill was a graduate of Cairo High School, Cairo Georgia. After graduation, he attended the University of Georgia where he earned both a B.S. in Animal Science and a master’s degree in Animal Nutrition. He also served two years in the army and worked briefly for the University of Georgia.

Bruce Widger, DVM

Bruce W. Widger DVM, 92, of Marcellus, NY passed away on March 6, 2017. Dr. Widger was born on the family farm near Spencerport, NY to the late Horace E. Widger and Ina Lilleystone Widger. Bruce attended a one-room schoolhouse from grades 1-8 and graduated from Churchville High School. His youth activities included: Boy Scouts, 4-H, and FFA- which he was a State officer in 1941. He attended Cornell University, graduating in 1951 from the Veterinary College. At Cornell he was Chancellor of Alpha Zeta Fraternity and member of the Baptist Student Fellowship.

Yeutter held a law degree and a Ph. D. in agricultural economics from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. At Nebraska, Yeutter, in 1950, was inducted in the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta, an agricultural honorary fraternity.

His parents and extended family fostered a desire to explore, to excel, to discover how things work, to laugh, to follow God and to respect himself and his neighbor.

Dr. Jim Lilley

 Dr. James Harvey Lilley, Jr., 55, passed away December 20, 2015 at his home. Jim was born May 9, 1960 in Wake County.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Swansboro with Dr. Larry Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Queens Creek Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
Jim graduated from Swansboro High School and then went on to NC State University and then North Carolina school of veterinarian medicine at NC State University where he received his doctorate in veterinarian medicine. As a 10 year career 4-H member in Onslow County Jim was inducted in the NC 4-H Honor Club in 1976. During his freshman year, 1978, at NCSU he became a member of Alpha Sigma Phi brotherhood. During his time at NCSU he was a member of the NC State Marching Band playing a flag bearing NCSU herald trumpet, and in 1980 he was inducted in the Honor Society of Agriculture, Gamma Sigma Delta, at the same time his father was inducted as an alumni member, and he was also inducted in the Alpha Zeta, Honor Fraternity for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
