On January 13, Alpha Zeta Partners Townshend Chapter kicked off its recruiting season with an ice cream social and informational session. Eligible students across the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences were invited to come to this event to learn more about Alpha Zeta Partners and why they should consider applying. This event was beneficial to both potential applicants by providing them with information and the Townshend Chapter of Alpha Zeta Partners by helping to secure a premier new class of members.  Letters were prepared and sent to eligible students of CFAES and their parents informing them of their ability to apply to AZP.  A Facebook group was created to help keep these students updated on important dates. A room was reserved and ice cream and toppings were purchased. Members asked the students to RSVP on Facebook to give an estimate on how many people were going to attend. During the event, the Recruitment Committee gave a short presentation and then opened the floor to questions.

The second event in Alpha Zeta Partners recruiting season was an informational session after a meeting on January 23. Potential applicants were invited to sit in on a meeting to get a feel for how the meetings run and then encouraged to stay for the informational session that followed the meeting. At the start of the meeting, current members and potential applicants were asked to introduce themselves and state their favorite kind of cookie as an ice-breaker. Since the event took place during and immediately after a meeting, an extensive amount of planning was not required.

The final stage in Alpha Zeta Partners recruiting season was conducting interviews of applicants for the new class in mid-February.  Interviews were necessary for both the applicants and AZP because they allowed the chapter to gain a further insight on the applicants in order to conjure the new class. This event took much planning including reserving a room, securing interviewers, seeking greeters, purchasing refreshments, assembling binders with applications and scheduling the interviews. A two-night long commitment was necessary of all the interviewers so we could maintain consistency. A final decision on the new class members was made at the closing of the event.
