Congratulations to Montana members Jamie Inglis and Cassandra Lannen
for being named the 2012 Keith Memorial Scholarship recipients. The Keith
Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Dr. James and Florance Keith,
provides scholarships for exceptional members of the Montana Chapter of Alpha
Zeta at Montana State University.
Jamie Inglis, 22, grew up in
the city of Central Point, Oregon where she graduated from Crater High School
as Salutatorian with a 4.02 GPA. In fall 2009, Jamie became a student at
Montana State University in Bozeman. She is currently a senior in the College
of Agriculture, pursuing a B.S. in Animal Science, Science Option.
In fall 2012, Jamie applied to veterinary school at Oregon State
University, where she would pursue a DVM. As a student at Montana State
University, she actively involved with campus and community activities. Jamie
has been volunteering at Southern Oregon Humane Society, in her hometown, since
2006 and began volunteering at Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter of Bozeman three
years ago.
Jamie is active in multiple campus organizations including president of
the Pre-veterinary Club at MSU, the treasurer of Alpha Zeta, and a member of
the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In her downtime she enjoys
fishing, hiking with her Labrador, taking pictures, hanging out with friends,
and volunteering in the community. In the future Jamie hopes to work for a
well-established veterinary hospital and be proud of herself for never giving
up on her life dreams.
Cassandra Lannen is currently a
first year veterinary student at Washington State University.
Cassandra grew up in Glasgow, Montana. While in Glasgow she was very
active in school, clubs and held three part time jobs. She was an active member
of Key Club Honor Society, Student Council, G Club, Jazz Band, and Pep Band.
She graduated with high honors from high school in 2008 and moved to Montana
State University in Bozeman.
At Montana State University, Cassandra completed the courses for a
degree in Animal Science. She also worked part time jobs and gained experience
working at a veterinary clinic. In May 2012, Cassandra graduated with a degree
in Animal Science.
After graduating from Washington State University Veterinary School
Cassandra plans to go back to a small, rural area in Montana and practice
veterinary medicine. Eventually she wants to own a mixed animal veterinary
practice.
