This semester, our Chapter got to hear from a range of different speakers at chapter events and at our Fall Initiation. The Florida Chapter would like to send a huge thank you to the speakers for giving us insight into their passions and for sharing with us their unique facets of the Agricultural Science world!

Our first speakers of the semester were fellow brothers and representatives of the CALS Leadership Institute at the University of Florida, Alexandra Swets and Le'a Dawes. The Institute is working on a campaign to raise awareness for the endangered Oval Pigtoe Mussel. They want to help people learn about the mussels' existence and understand their importance in the ecosystem. If you would like to support their efforts, please 'like' their Facebook page

The second speaker we were excited to listen to was UF Alpha Zeta Alumna and Pharmacy Resident Cynthia Moreau. She shared with us her experience of going through UF's Pharmacy School and what it was currently like to be a pharmacist. Did you know you could be a Veterinary Pharmacist? Well you can! Cynthia gave us the scoop.

Our final in-chapter Speaker was Brooke Gamewell from Tranquility River. Brooke is on a mission to begin an online farmers market and research facility which she is currently building a team for. She is also looking to establish a sustainable family-esque community in the Gainesville area.

For our Fall Initiation, the Florida Chapter heard from Taylor Stokes, Assistant Director for Leadership for the UF Center for Leadership and Service. Taylor presented to our initiates and their sponsors the Social Change Model and the seven values of Leadership. Mrs. Stokes even got us interactive during dinner in categorizing our work habits (pictured)!

Thank you again to all of our speakers this semester. We look forward to the many more speakers we have planned for this spring semester and for NALC 2016!
