New Member Retreat

New Member Retreat

Originally posted by Selina A. Ruzi

On February 26th, 21 pledges, the Censor and the Sergeant in Arms made their way out to the Meadows to hold the New Member Retreat. There the pledges got to hang out with their mommy and daddy while coloring and going over the history of Alpha Zeta. They were soon joined by our amazing Chancellor and Pledge Committee who brought with them a variety of different types of pizza and soda for lunch. Pledge Committee then played "Who's story is it?" with the pledges, which involved the pledges anonymously writing down an embarrassing or funny story that they were ok with sharing on a piece of paper. Then the Chair of Pledge Committee read out loud the story and everyone had to guess whose story it was. Both the Censor and the Sergeant in Arms also played. Once the game was over Scholarship Committee arrived and met with the pledges individually to help them write their debate papers, which is one of the requirements for pledging the Cook Chapter of Alpha Zeta.

Applebees!

Applebees!

Originally posted by Selina A. Ruzi

After the pledge meeting on February 16th, 33 brothers and 10 pledges carpooled out to the Applebees off of Ryders lane. There everyone enjoyed the half priced appetizers and some great conversation while getting to know everyone around you. This even is particularly important for the brothers who want to be bigs since it is the last mingling even before the New Member Ritual Night. The semesterly tradition of going to Applebees has been the reason for many of the big/ little pairings over the past couple of semesters.

On February 10th, 2 pledges, 2 alumni, and 14 brothers made their way to one of the some of the brothers' off campus house to watch a Happy Gilmore. This was a fun, relaxing way to spend a Thursday night instead of doing homework and allowed for the pledges and brothers to get to know each other better. It also allowed for the brothers to get to hang out with some of the alumni that we all dearly miss and wish could make it back to more of our chapter events.

Cook Chapter Slideshow

Cook Chapter Slideshow

Originally posted by Selina A. Ruzi

On February 9th, the Cook Chapter hosted a slideshow for the potential pledges to better get to know what Alpha Zeta is all about. There were a total of 26 prospective pledges that came out for the slideshow and of course our amazing e-board was there to present the slideshow. The event was held in the Cook Campus Center and after the potential pledges learned more about what our Chapter was all about they were invited to join the brothers at a mixer that was also held in the Cook Campus Center. This even was a very informative event and allowed for the pledges to get a better feel for whether or not they were really passionate about pledging Alpha Zeta and if they met the requirements for pledging. It was quite successful since we now have a potential pledge class of 22 amazing and dedicated pledges.

On Friday March 18th, nine brothers of the North Carolina Chapter of Alpha Zeta met at the Raleigh Iceplex for an evening of ice skating.  We had a great time laughing at each other.  Many of us fell multiple times and had bruises to show for it.  It was a great time to let loose and enjoy each others company.
