UF Scrap booking Social 3-24-11

Every year for our national conference, the UF chapter of AZ combines all of our activity reports with pictures in a beautifully created scrapbook. This is such a large project each year that this year our Chronicler, Claire Page, has been hosting scrapbooking socials to help complete the book before going to the national conference at the end of March. This particular night five members met and updated the scrapbook. The UF chapter of AZ is always extremely proud we go above and beyond with this craft.

Our fundraising chair, Gernide Zamor, planned a fundraiser at our local TCBY (frozen yogurt/ice cream). UF AZ will receive a percentage of all purchases from nine to 10p.m. Planning involved scheduling a time with TCBY and letting the members know when and where to go. During the event attendance is taken. Once TCBY calculates how much AZ earned they will contact Gernide. AZ had 27 in attendance. We always enjoy having events that involve socializing and food, especially ice cream!

UF Ropes Course 3-20-11

Our AZ Chancellor, Kelin Maciejewski, headed up a bonding activity that took place at UF's Lake Wauburg Ropes Course. Planning included reserving the course months in advance and having the 14 members attended sign paperwork ahead of time. It started with "get to know you warm-up activities." Then there was a low alpine course where everyone had to work as a team to get everyone across a two foot high log-course with various obstacles and team problem solving activities. Next everyone had to get over a 12 foot high wall with no ropes and just people trying to push/pull people over the wall. Last, people had the chance to climb a 45 foot high alpine tower with various obstacles including nets, hanging logs, wobbly platforms, ladders, and rocks. Everyone had a blast. It was a ton of fun and it made a lot of people feel better connected as a group.

The 16 that attended had a great time picking out paint colors and creating their unique designs on the bowls and cups! On March 6th, 14 brothers and 3 pledges helped out at a table for Special Friends Day. The activity at the table was making dream catchers and the kids that came were allowed to decorate them however they wanted. All of the kids were really very sweet and had some amazing paintings that were on their dream catchers. Feeling inspired, some of the brothers also decided to paint a bit and here are some of the pictures that they made.

On March 4th, 20 brothers went to the Ice Cream Social that Helyar House was hosting at Responsible Happy Hour. They were raising money for Give Kids the World Village in Florida by selling ice cream at a $1 per scoop. It was an extremely fun event because who doesn't love ice cream and the money was going to a great cause. We also wanted to support one of our brothers who lives at Helyar House and helped to run the event.
