Throughout Agricultural Awareness week, Alpha Zeta puts on numerous events to involve people in a celebration of agriculture. On Monday we planned Agriculture Olympics with CALs faculty. This event included seed spitting; a tractor race and an egg toss among the participants. Collegiate 4H sponsored a lunch of pizza. On Tuesday, we had an Alumni breakfast for faculty from 7:30-11. During this time the faculties were invited to eat and socialize with the officers and brothers in Alpha Zeta. There were about 10 alumni who showed up. At 11am on Tuesday, Commisioner Troxler and WRAL's Elizabeth Gardner engaged in a milking contest. After two minutes of milking, Elizabeth Gardner's bucket had more milk. This was the first time in 7 years that the Commissioner hadn't won. We were also featured on WRAL for our milking contest the link is listed above. Lunch on Tuesday was sponsored by Sigma Alpha and Alpha Gamma Rho. Wednesday's lunch was sponsored by the Poultry Science Club and the Agronomy Club. That evening we had our Comissioner of Agriculture conducted our Ag Forum detailing important happenings on Agriculture. At the end of Agriculture Awareness week, Thursday we had a trophy presentation given to the "most creative booth.” which went to the Poultry Science Club. Throughout the week we collected money for our first annual Kiss the Pig contest. We had different NCSU figure heads agree that if their bucket contained the most money then they would kiss one of our pigs. Our head football coach ended up winning and kissed the pig. W also had a run off between AZ brothers that ended in a tie between Chancellor Greene and Censor Pitts. The proceeds went to the American Red Cross for the relief efforts in Japan. We raised a total of $160. Overall the week was a great success and we were able to promote agriculture around NCSU.
