Each December, the North Carolina Chapter partners with Operation Holiday Cheer to help support a family going through rough times enjoy the holiday season. Operation Holiday Cheer located a family for us to contact. We found out that the family includes a single mom with two boys ages 3 and 11, as well as a 7 year old girl. A hat was passed around at each meeting in November for brothers to make donations. Alumni were also notified and gave very generous donations. We raised about $450 from brothers and alumni.
The Needy Family Committee traveled to Burlington Coat Factory on Thursday November 29
th at 5:30 pm. They purchased a watch for the mother as well as clothing and toys for the children. Each child received a brand new coat, warm hat, gloves, and boots. Toys included a tool set, nail polish set and toy car. The chapter also decided to donate a six-foot Christmas tree from our fundraiser. During the tree pick-up, seven brothers wrapped the presents for the family in colorful wrapping paper. Seven brothers participated on December 1
st at 9am. The committee delivered the gifts to the family on December 4
th. The brotherhood hopes to have a positive impact on the community and spread joy to those going through rough times.
