Holiday Baking Event

Originally posted by Amanda E. Sorensen

On December 13th 20 brothers and 2 alumni attended the Cook College first annual baking competition. There were 5 judges and 6 different dishes that were entered into the competition. One of our world famous cooks (Wayne) made some excellently seasoned, home made potato chips that came in first place. Everyone then watched holiday movies and celebrated the end of the semester.

On December 14th 8 brothers and 2 alumni of the Cook College Chapter got together and had a tea party to celebrate the holidays and talk about future events that the chapter would like to have. Many of the members of the brotherhood committee attended to discuss this past semesters events and how they could be improved and events that brothers would like to see happen in the future. A good time was had by all and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas played in the background as a nice touch.

On December 3rd of 2010 27 brothers and 6 alumni of the Cook College Chapter attended the Botanical Society of America's holiday happy hour featuring our dear friend, the potato. There were potato related trivia questions, arts and crafts, and meeting and greeting with the members of BSA. It was a good bonding experience for both the brothers and those outside of the fraternity as we showed our support for other campus organizations.

UF AZ White Elephant Social

UF AZ White Elephant Social

This is the second year we have turned our last fall semester meeting into a White Elephant gift exchange. The rules are pretty simple: everyone brings a wrapped gift valued at $5-$10. We number slips of paper 1-however many people we have, and each person takes a number from a hat. Whoever gets #1 goes to the front and unwraps a gift. Number 2 may unwrap his own gift or steal the gift of number 1. We continue until everyone has a gift! A gift may be stolen only 3 times, and if your gift is stolen, you unwrap another! The 22 members that participated had a lot of fun and went home with a unique present.

To celebrate the end of the semester, several brothers gathered for fun and fellowship on December 3rd.  We also invited our alumni as well.  The social was held at Kabuki Japanese steakhouse in Cary, North Carolina.  We all had fun dressing up and joining for a time of fellowship.  Many of us enjoyed the hibachi chicken or steak which was delicious!  We all had a great time and it was a great way to relax before the beginning of final exams.

End of the Semester Candlelight

Originally posted by Lauren K. Mabry

After our regularly scheduled business meeting we held a candlelight ceremony in honor of our December graduates.  We all sat in a circle passing a candle around sharing our favorite memories of AZ, what Alpha Zeta has meant to us, and wishing those graduating the best of luck.  We ended with the graduating seniors telling their favorite memories and giving us advice as we finish our college careers.  It always an emotional and meaning full ceremony.
