As a kickoff to homecoming week at the University of Illinois, the Student Alumni Ambassadors organize a massive, campus wide service project called iHelp. This event, which had close to 2000 participants, is a way for the members of the UIUC campus to give back to the community and form a closer bond. This is the first year that the Alpha Zeta Morrow Chapter participated and we had a great turn out. 9 brothers volunteered for this event and our project was to help construct a high tunnel and winterize the plots at the Student Sustainable Farm...

Members of the Florida Chapter met up on Thursday night at 8 p.m. to take part in a tradition at the University of Florida. Located on 34th St. in Gainesville is a wall that lines the road where students all over the city come and paint advertisements, pictures, and even proposals. We decided to go with an Alpha Zeta theme painting a huge A and Z on the wall and each of the members who attended wrote their own name. In our group there were some more talented graffiti artists than others, however our finished product is one to challenge some of the best artists. The wall gave us the opportunity to show our creative side and have fun outside with each other away from the midterm grind.

This past Saturday (10/1), the Cornell Chapter participated in a Habitat for Humanity build day in a local community. Seven actives, 2 alumni, and 1 pledge attended. They worked hard all morning to put drywall in the basement and paneling in the ceiling. It was a great way to put our skills to work for the community.

Lost in a Maze of Maize

This past Friday, (9/30), the Cornell Chapter attended a corn maze with two other campus organizations. Collegiate FFA and Hortus Forum (the undergraduate horticulture club) attended with us. Everyone met at the AZ House and headed to the maze together. Many members of AZ are a part of the other organizations and we thought it would be a great way to mingle with other "aggies". Around 15 actives attended, 1 alumni, and 3 pledges, along with many others from the other organizations. Everyone had a great time despite the mud and we really look forward to organizing events like this with other agricultural organizations in the future!

Cornell Campus Scavenger Hunt

Cornell Campus Scavenger Hunt

One of our new member events is a campus scavenger hunt to learn about how AZ at Cornell has impacted the campus, mostly in the Ag School. It was held this semester on 9/27. New members got clues to different buildings on campus that are important to AZ and met actives at each building to hear how it was important. At one stop, two alumni surprised the new members with hot chocolate. The night concluded on the Arts Quad by the statue of our college's founder.

Another gorgeous day in Gainesville turned into a chilly night at a Gator game. Members of the Florida Chapter met up earlier in the week to get football tickets together for the game against the University of Alabama. Everyone one was in the seats and ready for the 8 p.m. kick off. The stadium was the loudest it has ever been even though the Gators lost members stayed until the very last second. The Florida Chapter even visited with some fans during halftime taking a picture with a gator and die-hard fans they found in the stands. Everyone enjoyed the game and the opportunity to hang out and be with friends even if it was a tad colder for us Florida members because "in all kind of weather we'll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A!”

Our intramural indoor soccer team for the Fall semester had their second game of our season. Though we may not have a perfect record members enjoy coming out other week on Wednesday for our games. Luckily for the ladies, we had extra people for substitutions but our three hard working men stuck it out the whole game. We had some new players this week that were just learning the rules of the game and they seemed to be the stars of the field. The game was a tough game but our members stuck through it and gave it their all. Even though we lost our members had a blast and can't wait for the next game.
