Christmas Party and Angel Tree Donations

On November 20th, our Organization held our annual Christmas party in which we had a secret santa exchange, played Christmas games, ate wonderful snacks, and had an ugly sweater contest. This wasn't all we did during this meeting, along with this we also decorated Christmas trees for families in need in Stillwater, Oklahoma, collected cans for our local food pantry, and collected money for Angel Tree. We raised $304 that was able to be spent on one little girl and one little boy in the Stillwater area so that they could have a magical Christmas. Our shopping trip was on December 9th and we bought legos, kitchen sets, gift cards, stuffed animals, clothes, and much more. It was truly a moving night and it is so amazing seeing a group of such amazing members and pledges wanting to change the world and help those in need around them. It was such a wonderful evening.

Thirty-five active brothers exchanged secret gifts on November 28th at 8 pm. Participating brothers drew names out of a hat on November 7th and were given two weeks to find the perfect gift. Brothers were encouraged to draw names of people they did not know as well, so that they could find out more about them when deciding on a $5-$10 gift. On November 28th, the social committee decorated the meeting room with an artificial Christmas tree and area to place gifts. Brothers were thrilled to open their gifts and left the meeting joyful.

NC Sends Cards to Troops

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

Ten brothers of the North Carolina Chapter sent at least two Christmas cards for troops. The service committee sent out information about Operation Christmas Cards requirements so that brothers could turn in cards at our regular business meeting on November 14th. Cards were filled with encouraging words to thank soldiers for their service and sacrificing their time over the holidays. Brothers enjoyed decorating the cards and envelopes. The service committee mailed the letters to meet the November 25th deadline. This project is a great way for our chapter to support and show appreciation for the sacrifices of America’s amazing servicemen and women.

NC Sends Operation Christmas Child Boxes

Originally posted by Ashley J. Kirby

When brothers of the North Carolina Chapter heard about Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child program, they were eager to participate. The service committee sent out information about the boxes, label and shipping fees so that brothers could turn in boxes at our regular business meetings on November 7th and 14th. Twenty brothers filled empty shoe or plastic boxes to send to children around the world. Boxes could be designed for boys or girls ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Items in the boxes included toys, school supplies, hygiene items, hard candy, t-shirts, and personal notes. Brothers paid a $7 shipping fee for their box. The service committee delivered the boxes to a drop-off location so that the boxes could meet the National Collection Week deadline of November 19th. This project is a great way to spread joy during the holiday season and put a smile on a child’s face.

On Saturday December 10th 2011, seven brothers of the Cook Chapter traveled to McCarter Theater (Princeton, NJ) to see their presentation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. This classic story was well presented with excellent acting and beautiful staging with fantastic set design and a few new songs that worked well into the show.
